The most rewarding thing about my course is that it helped me identify geospatial information systems (GIS) as my new passion.

'Career counselling helped me identify environmental science as my first preference of a career change. Deakin's environmental science options available to choose from and it's location made it an easy decision for me to make.

I travelled to Playa Camaronal, Costa Rica to conduct sea turtle conservation research with fellow students. We transported hatched turtle eggs to a hatchery we had built to preserve declining populations. Impacts of tourist viewing on turtle birthing rates were monitored and recorded. It was nothing short of an incredible experience, I'm very grateful to have been provided with the opportunity. It as an experience that I will never forget, along with the new friends I've made.

The thing I like best about Deakin is that it has helped me to identify my new passion in life, and is enabling me along my new path. The teaching and staff are extremely knowledgeable, passionate and approachable. I enjoy engaging with them, they are very supportive in helping me to learn the best way they are able to.'
